The Criminal Investigation Division is directly supervised by the Operations Commander. Investigative duties are assigned to all sworn officers. Criminal investigators will, unless otherwise needed, be non-uniformed personnel and will investigate crimes as they are assigned.
There are two investigators assigned to the criminal investigative unit. One is assigned to work general crimes while the other is assigned to the drug task force.
It is the function of the Alliance Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit to:
- Investigate criminal cases
- Complete follow-up investigations of crimes
- Take part in special investigations within the City
- Process evidence or forward it to the State lab for examination
