The Alliance Police Department consists of sixteen (16) sworn positions and six (6) civilian personnel. We offer competitive wages with the following benefits: 8 paid holidays, 3 floating holidays of employees choice, annual leave, sick leave, personal leave, life insurance, health and dental insurance, pension plan, social security, workmen's compensation, access to the City of Alliance fitness center and optional membership to the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police). Uniforms, leather gear and weapons are also provided.

Patrol Assignments

An officer’s initial assignment will be to the Patrol section. They will be assigned to a Field Training Officer. The shift assignments are bid through a seniority system. A trainee will not bid a shift until the first bidding after they have completed training.

Advancement Opportunities
Promotions are made through a testing process and interview process. Officers may be eligible for promotion to Lieutenant, Sergeant, or Police Officer II.

Specialized Opportunities
The Alliance Police Department does have some specialized areas which are defined by the Police Chief. In addition to service as a patrol officer, the following positions are available:
  • Bicycle details
  • Motorcycle details
  • Drug recognition experts
  • Traffic accident investigator
  • PPCT instructor
  • EVOC instructor
  • Taser instructor
  • Firearms instructor

The Police Department is also involved in the following program:

Dispatch

The Dispatch section is comprised of a supervisor, and five (5) full-time dispatchers. The Department maintains 24-hour coverage, and personnel are divided into three shifts which are bid on once a year by seniority. Dipatcher.jpg
