A-1 Downtown Improvement Board |
 |

 |
The A-1 Downtown Improvement Board consists of five members and meets once a month on the last Tuesday of the month. Members serve for a term of three years. This is a self-taxing board which pays for improvements within the district. Improvements in the past have included: parking lot acquisition, snow removal, banners, public restroom facilities, and holiday decorations. A-1 Board Members must be a property owner, resident, business operator, or user of space with the business district boundary. The boundary for A-1 Improvement is roughly the area from 1st to 6th Streets, Cheyenne to Sweetwater Avenues. |

A-2 Downtown Improvement Board |

The A-2 Downtown Improvement Board consists of five members and meets once a month on the last Tuesday of the month. Members serve for a term of three years. This is a self taxing board which provides the maintenance of the flowers, trees, and shrubs in the downtown area as well as other esthetic improvements. A-2 Board Members must be a property owner, resident, business operator, or user of space with the business district boundary. The boundary for A-2 Improvement is those business fronting Box Butte Ave, 1st to 5th Street. |

The Civil Service Commission |

The Civil Service Commission meets as needed. The Commission is appointed by the City Manager for a term of six years. The Commission follows all provisions relating to the Nebraska Civil Service Act and establishes rules and regulations as prescribed by law. The Commission is responsible for the hiring, dismissal, disciplinary and other issues related to Civil Servants, which are the sworn personnel for the Police and Fire Departments. |

The Facility Advisory Council |

The Facility Advisory Council was established to assist with building issues concerning the Alliance Library Learning Center. Representatives of the Alliance Library, WNCC, CSC, and one citizen at large serve on the Council. The term is for one year. |

The Museum Board |

The Park and Tree Board |

This is an advisory board to assist in overseeing the proper care, maintenance, improvement, beautification, extension, and use of the park system. The Board is composed of nine members serving three year staggered terms. This board does not involve itself with the operation of the museum, swimming pool, golf course or cemetery. |

The Planning Commission |

The Planing Commission is a nine member board which meets on the second Tuesday of each month in the evening. Their purpose is to make and adopt plans for the physical development of the city. They also recommend programs for public structures and improvements and methods of financing its programs. |
