The City of Alliance relies on ground water as its source of potable water. Water is derived from the Ogallala and Arikaree Aquifer. Average demand in the City is 2,458,000 gallons, with peak demands reaching over 7,000,000 gallons per day in the summer. |

The quality of groundwater in the area is good, so the water supply is not routinely treated. To ensure that it is clean and safe to drink, water samples are sent to State labs for testing on a regularly scheduled basis. Chlorination is periodically used to keep the system clean. |
