Alliance's water comes solely from ground water and is tapped into the Ogalala and Arikaree formations. Arsenic in the ground water at levels above 10 parts per billion will cause the City to treat the water beginning in 2009. Any treatment automatically means the City will also have to chlorinate it's drinking water.
